Overview
Metal Chain Curtain at a Glance
Metal chain curtain, also called metal wire mesh curtain, metal coil drapery or chain mesh curtain, is woven from interlocking wire spirals into one continuous sheet. It combines the flexibility and gathering movement of textile drapery with the gloss, texture and durability of metal.
We tailor the wire diameter, aperture, color and hanging fullness to control transparency, light diffusion, airflow, visual privacy and the way the curtain drapes when open or gathered.
Our metal chain curtains are used in hotels, restaurants, offices, shopping centers, exhibition halls, opera houses, concert halls, museums and residential interiors as room dividers, architectural drapery, ceiling or wall features, door or window screens, fireplace screens, shower curtains, lampshades and selected exterior screens.
We offer aluminum, aluminum-magnesium alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, copper and brass options. Aluminum is lighter, more flexible and economical, while stainless steel is suited to projects that need higher strength, durability or a natural metallic appearance. Our team confirms the material, wire, aperture, finish, panel size, finished weight and support system with you before production.

Product overview
How Is Metal Coil Drapery Woven and How Does It Work?
Our metal chain curtain has the appearance of a fine chain fabric with small openings. This flexible decorative metal curtain is used in interior and exterior architectural design and is also known as metal wire mesh curtain, metal coil drapery or chain mesh curtain.
We customize the continuous coil sheet in different specifications, styles and shapes. It can hang flat, form waves, gather to one side or move on a compatible track or rod system, allowing the same mesh to work as a divider, screen or sculptural surface.
The close-up sample above and the installed project below show how the same coil construction looks at product and project scale. We adjust material, wire diameter, aperture and hanging fullness to achieve the required color, sheen, transparency and visual density.
Material selection
Which Material Should You Choose: Aluminum or Stainless Steel?
We primarily offer aluminum and stainless steel wire. Both provide a metallic appearance, but they suit different priorities: aluminum is lighter, more flexible and generally more economical, while stainless steel offers higher strength and durability and is less easily damaged.
For projects that need a different metal character, we can also supply carbon steel, aluminum-magnesium alloy, copper or brass, subject to the selected wire range, finish, application and order requirements.
Our team selects the material together with the wire diameter, aperture, panel size, required movement, installation environment and supporting structure. The same nominal opening can produce different weight, drape and appearance when the metal or wire gauge changes.
| Material | Best suited to | Available finishes | What we confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminum | Lower panel weight, flexibility, colored decorative finishes and economy | Anodizing or baking paint | Alloy, color sample, exposure, panel weight and support |
| Stainless steel | Higher strength, durability or natural metallic appearance | Acid washing, natural finish or project-specified paint | Grade, exposure, finish, panel weight and support |
| Carbon steel, Al-Mg alloy, copper or brass | Special visual, weight or material requirements | Selected for the project | Availability, corrosion strategy, weight and finish sample |
Performance and design
What Performance Can Metal Coil Drapery Provide?
Metal coil drapery combines a soft, free-flowing visual effect with a metal surface. The winding wire adds fullness, the woven coil adds fluency and the corrugated profile creates depth. When gathered, the folds produce a different visual density from the same panel hung flat.
Bare metal mesh is non-absorbent compared with textile fabric, but a finished curtain may include coatings, fittings and adjacent materials. The product name alone does not establish fire, weather, corrosion, heat, impact, acoustic or security performance. For performance-critical projects, we match the material, coating and support design to the service conditions and confirm any required testing before quotation.
- Lightweight aluminum configurations are available
- Flexible construction can gather, fold and move like conventional drapery
- Wind, sound, light and air can pass through the open coil structure
- Aperture and fullness adjust light diffusion, ventilation and visual privacy
- Panels can use wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted tracks and may be site-spliced when the approved system permits
- Wire, aperture and material can be selected for different strength and toughness requirements
- Metallic texture, flowing folds and custom colors support decorative and high-end interior effects
- Wear life, economy, cleaning and maintenance depend on material, finish, exposure and care
- Finish resilience, color retention and coating adhesion depend on the finish system and service environment
- Custom widths, drops, shapes, styles, colors and hanging systems can be developed for project orders
Product comparison
How Does Metal Coil Drapery Differ from Chain Link Curtain and Ring Mesh Curtain?
Metal wire mesh curtain, Chain Link Curtain and Ring Mesh Curtain are separate constructions, not interchangeable product names. Compare structure, material, movement, finished weight, surface finish, installation and service requirements before selecting an option; price or cost-performance should not be assumed from the product name alone.
| Curtain type | Construction | Typical material | Visual and handling cue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metal Wire Mesh Curtain / Metal Coil Drapery | Continuous sheet woven from interlocking wire spirals | Aluminum or stainless steel; other metals are available for selected projects | Coil-style surface that gathers and moves on a track or rod |
| Chain Link Curtain | Separate hook-shaped links hung in vertical strands | Aluminum | Visibly open strip construction with individual hanging chains |
| Ring Mesh Curtain | Sheet assembled from linked individual metal rings | Stainless steel | Visible ring pattern with different drape, weight and surface texture |
Mesh styles and finish options
Which Colors and Surface Finishes Are Available?
We offer metal coil drapery in different wire sizes, aperture proportions and roll forms. The product images below show fine and large openings, straight and rolled samples, multiple viewing angles and a range of surface appearances. We confirm the final construction from the required dimensions, application and visual effect rather than from an image alone.
We can supply golden, space silver, copper, brass-yellow, ultra-black, Chinese red, purple, bronze, pearl gray, white and other custom colors to change the decorative character of the same coil structure.
Anodic oxidation forms a protective oxide layer on suitable metal, improving surface durability and corrosion resistance. Aluminum is commonly specified with an anodized or painted finish.
Acid washing removes surface oxides and inclusions from compatible metals. Stainless steel may use acid washing as a preparation or finish route, while any corrosion or color-retention expectation must still be matched to the grade and environment.
Baking paint is sprayed onto the surface and heat-cured to create a colored finish. Because the substrate, texture and lighting affect the result, send us a Pantone Formula Guide Coated or Metallics code and approve a physical finish sample before color-critical production.
- Golden and golden-yellow
- Space silver and white
- Copper, brass-yellow and bronze
- Ultra-black and pearl gray
- Chinese red and purple
- Teal, brown and other custom Pantone colors

Applications
Where Is Metal Chain Curtain Used?
Our metal coil drapery defines space without creating a fully solid wall. Its continuous sheet distinguishes it from strip-type chain link curtain, while the opening size and hanging fullness can balance sightlines, airflow, light and privacy.
We supply metal chain curtains for offices, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, exhibition halls, opera houses, concert halls, museums and residential interiors. Typical designs include architectural drapery, room or meeting-space dividers, wall and ceiling decoration, window treatments, door and balcony screens, building elevations, shower partitions, lampshades and fireplace curtains.
For each application, we select the material, wire diameter, aperture, fullness, finish, panel weight and installation method to suit the setting and required visual effect.
For exterior, fireplace, overhead, debris-screening, acoustic or security applications, send us the wind or heat exposure, clearances, load, support, fixing and maintenance requirements. We will review the design conditions and identify any testing that must be confirmed before quotation.
- Interior partitions, room dividers and space dividers
- Space privacy protection screens
- Ceiling, wall and day-lighting screens
- Door and window screens, window treatment and sun shading
- Fireplace mesh screen curtains
- Wall decoration and architectural drapery
- Metal mesh shower curtains and bathroom dividers
- Building facade, elevation and balcony screens
- Lampshades and ceiling-light features
- Protective, blast-debris or security-screen concepts subject to engineering and testing

Mounting systems
How Is Metal Chain Curtain Installed?
We offer wall- and ceiling-mounted systems using an aluminum-alloy track or stainless steel curtain rod. Compatible sliders, tabs or rings allow the curtain to open, close and gather along the top support.
Our aluminum-alloy track is lightweight and can be supplied straight or formed for a curved layout within the system's allowable radius. White, brown and black coatings are available; we match the alloy and finish to the intended exposure.
For heavier curtains, we can use a stainless steel rod with rings or tabs. Curved rods are mechanically formed to the approved radius, while the rod diameter, bracket span, end stops and fixing points are checked against the finished curtain load.
Send us the opening width and height, track path, mounting surface, movement direction, material, finish, quantity and drawings. Before production, we confirm joints, curves, support centers, site splicing and maintenance access for the actual installation.
| System | Main advantages | What we confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminum-alloy track | Lightweight, straight or bendable, available with coated finishes | Track radius, panel weight, sliders, joints, support centers, end stops and substrate |
| Stainless steel rod | Higher-strength visual support with rings or tabs | Rod diameter, mechanically formed curve, bracket span, load, movement and end restraint |

Export protection
How Is Metal Chain Curtain Packed for Export?
For export shipment, we normally roll the metal mesh curtain to protect the coil structure. Depending on the order, we wrap each roll in waterproof paper, plastic film or bubble film before placing it in a wooden box.
We make wooden boxes to suit the curtain length and panel arrangement. For long curtains, the box length can be up to 12 m when the container and loading method allow it; the actual limit depends on the container, route, handling, panel size and packing design.
Our available packing formats include protected long rolls, colored rolls, open wooden crates and closed strapped boxes. We match the final method to the curtain length, quantity, accessories, transport route and customer marking requirements.
Before shipment, we confirm the roll direction, panel marks, fittings, moisture protection, crate size, gross weight and loading method with your order.
Buying FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Metal Chain Curtain
Is metal coil drapery the same as a Chain Link Curtain or Ring Mesh Curtain?+
No. Metal coil drapery is a continuous sheet woven from wire spirals. A Chain Link Curtain uses separate hanging aluminum hooks, while a Ring Mesh Curtain is assembled from linked metal rings. The three products differ in construction, appearance, weight and movement.
Should I choose aluminum or stainless steel?+
Aluminum is the lighter option and accepts anodized or painted color finishes. Stainless steel is selected when its material properties better suit the required strength or environment. Confirm the exposure conditions, cleaning method and required finish before choosing the material.
What sizes can be customized?+
We offer 0.5–2.0 mm wire, 3–20 mm apertures, custom widths and curtain drops up to 12 m. Finished weight is typically 1.7–6.0 kg/m². Not every material, wire and aperture can be combined, so send us the required panel size and application and we will confirm the suitable construction, finished weight and support requirements.
Can the curtain color follow a Pantone code?+
Yes. Send us the target Pantone code for custom color development. The final appearance varies with material, finish and lighting, so approve a physical finish sample before production when color matching is critical.
Which track system should be included in the quotation?+
Options shown include bendable track, straight track and a stainless steel curtain rod. Send the opening size, track path, mounting surface, required movement and drawings so the track and fixing arrangement can be checked with the curtain.
What is the MOQ and how is the mesh packed?+
Our MOQ starts from 1 m² for eligible material, color and installation-system combinations. We roll the curtain, protect it with waterproof paper, plastic film or bubble film, and pack it in a wooden box sized to the curtain length. We confirm the final MOQ and crate design with your panel size, accessories and order quantity.
Can I request a custom sample and how long does delivery take?+
Yes. We can prepare a custom-size and custom-color sample. The sample fee may be waived, while courier cost is paid by the customer. When the selected material and finish are available, eligible orders may take about 2 days for 1 m² and within 7 days for 10 m². We confirm current capacity, packing, shipping and the actual lead time before ordering.
Is metal mesh curtain fireproof, weatherproof or suitable for security protection?+
Those properties cannot be assumed from the product name alone.
